The 11th Annual Facilities Conference is coming up October 4-6 at Crystal Mountain. Information for the conference and registration is up on the MSBO website, http://www.msbo.org/conferences/index.shtml.
We always hear about the desire to make changes as far away from the classroom as possible. We can’t lose sight, though, of the physical classroom itself and the buildings and grounds in general and their role in providing a quality education to our students. Staying abreast of the best practices associated with safe, healthy, and effective school facilities can certainly be a challenge.
The MSBO Facilities and Operations Director Conference is absolutely the best place to access high level information on school facilities. School facilities represent a tremendous resource and responsibility for districts and require the knowledge and understanding of a myriad of issues. Included in those responsibilities comes the assessment of energy management; the understanding of the viability of alternative energy; the decision to consider privatization of a support service; the oversight of the contractor after privatization; evaluating effectiveness and costs of a facilities department; to name just a few.
This is a unique conference offering more valuable facilities topics than anywhere else. Check out the workshops being offered and see for yourself how many issues are addressed in a short amount of time at this conference.
