Stephanie Murray Chosen MSBO 2009 School Business Official of the Year

Stephanie Murray, Director of Human Resources, Finance and Administrative Services for Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD) was selected as the MSBO 2009 School Business Official of the Year.

TBAISD Superintendent Michael J. Hill highlighted Murray’s credentials in his nomination letter. “With tremendous integrity and character Stephanie Murray performs her duties for the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District," says Hill. “She is dedicated and passionate about student achievement. She clearly understands the importance of her financial leadership and the positive impact for students. She goes above and beyond the scope of her duties to organize and assemble the region’s business officials on a monthly basis. She is respected across Michigan for her passion and tireless commitment to education.

“Her dedication to detail and work ethic goes unmatched. During her years of service to TBAISD, she has been responsible for leading many initiatives to provide efficiencies and economies of scale for the region and the state.”

Murray received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Business Administration and Accounting. She received a Masters of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.

Murray is a MSBO Certified Financial Officer and is also a member of the collaborative effort with the Michigan Department of Education and intermediate school districts project of Darkening the Dotted Lines. She has worked on the 403b collaborative effort with the Michigan Retirement Investment Consortium and is actively involved with the MSBO ISD committee meetings. She has been a presenter at several MSBO annual conferences and is an active participant in the Northwest Michigan School Business Officials, the Michigan Negotiators Association and the Michigan School Investment Association.

As MSBO School Business Official of the Year, Stephanie will receive a $1500 professional development scholarship to attend an ASBO International meeting. Her name will also be submitted to ASBO for their prestigious Eagle Award.
